If the phrase “nervous system regulation routine” makes you picture a two-hour morning protocol, I would like to offer the opposite.
A useful routine should make your life easier to inhabit. It should not require a spreadsheet, twelve supplements, and a personality transplant.
The Soft60 version is intentionally small
The method uses six daily practices: regulate, subtract chaos, move gently, eat with presence, create identity proof, and reflect.
You do not have to do them in a perfect order. You do not have to make them photogenic. You just need enough repetition for your days to stop feeling completely improvised.
Morning: regulate before input
Before you start consuming everyone else’s thoughts, give yourself a few minutes without input. Breathe. Sit quietly. Stretch. Walk. Look out the window. Pick one.
This is not about achieving a special state. It is about beginning the day without immediately handing your attention away.
Daytime: subtract and move
Remove one piece of unnecessary chaos. Then move your body in a way that feels supportive rather than punitive.
A short walk counts. Stretching counts. Strength training counts. The important part is the relationship you are practicing with yourself while you do it.
At one meal: be there
Put the phone away and let one meal be an actual pause. Sit down. Taste the food. Stop making every quiet moment into another chance to consume information.
Evening: collect evidence
Ask two questions: what did I do today that made my life calmer, and what did I do that proved the person I am becoming?
That is enough for a reflection. One line is enough.
What if you miss a day?
Do not turn one missed practice into a three-week identity crisis. Return the next day. The skill is not perfection. The skill is returning without drama.
